The United States is preparing a new package of Ukraine?”>military aid to Ukraine worth 400 million dollars and is returning to the usual pace of arms deliveries to Kiev, an official representative of the American government told Reuters.
Washington made the move after Congress approved a $95 billion foreign aid package that includes military support for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, BTA writes.
The new military package for Ukraine includes artillery, interceptor missiles for the NASAMS air defense systems, anti-tank missiles, armored vehicles and small arms that can immediately be used on the front, the source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
Money under the so-called Presidential Drawing Powers (PDA) system will be used to pay for the weapons.
The amount of $95 billion approved by Congress includes various forms of aid to Ukraine worth $60.8 billion, as well as $8 billion allocated through the president’s withdrawal powers, Reuters notes.
New military aid to Kiev is expected to be officially announced today after Russian forces launched a ground attack with armored vehicles near Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkiv, located in the northeast of the country. The Russian army has made small inroads and opened a new front in the war, which has long been centered in eastern and southern Ukraine.
