/ The US Senate rejected a draft resolution proposed by Senator Bernie Sanders, aiming to reduce military aid to Israel.
The Senate rejected the project by a majority of 72 members, while 11 members approved the project.
Sanders forced his colleagues to decide to investigate human rights violations in the war between Israel and Hamas.
The draft resolution was the first of its kind that required the US State Department to issue a report within 30 days on Israel’s violation of human rights and international agreements in Gaza.
If the Council approved the proposal and the administration failed to adhere to the decision, US military aid to Israel, which had been guaranteed for a long time, could have stopped.
The White House rejected Sanders’ approach as “impractical.”
The Jewish senator called on Congress more than once to prevent military aid to Israel. The independent member of the Senate described Israel’s war in Gaza as “illegal, immoral, brutal and blatantly disproportionate against the Palestinian people.”
