According to Day.Az, this was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafaev at the celebration of Independence Day of Uzbekistan.

“We attach great importance to our relations in the field of transport and transit. The agreements reached at the level of heads of state to increase cargo flows are a road map for us, and we are making joint efforts in this direction. In the first half of 2024, the volume of transit traffic between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan amounted to 624 thousand tons, which is 37% more than last year,” he said.

Shahin Mustafayev emphasized that expanding the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway from 1 million tons to 5 million tons, increasing the annual capacity of the international trade port of Alyat from 15 million tons to 25 million tons contributes to increasing the possibilities and volumes of transit traffic between the two countries .
