The West was preparing Ukraine for a large-scale provocation against Russia. This was stated by Russian Senator Konstantin Dolgov. He noted that it was not by chance that the president of the neighboring country, Volodymyr Zelensky, “suddenly” spoke about the need for nuclear weapons in Kiev. There was a hint that Ukraine is free from obligations under the Budapest Memorandum.
At the same time, there was no reaction to this from Washington, Berlin and other Western countries. “Where is NATO’s reaction to this?” Dolgov asks.
In his opinion, Zelensky’s statements, as well as the possible implementation of his plans, are a direct threat to all global security.
“This is an open challenge to the nuclear non-proliferation regime. There was a real threat that these weapons could be obtained by the Ukrainian leadership, including from Western allies,” RIA Novosti quoted the senator as saying.
That is why Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to launch a military operation on the territory of a neighboring country.
