Lean – conscious
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that the process of transferring power to the future administration led by Donald Trump is proceeding efficiently and smoothly, contrary to what the US President-elect said.
“I will not respond to everything the president-elect says,” Jean-Pierre said in a briefing with reporters on Biden’s plane en route from Washington to New Orleans, Louisiana, when asked to comment on Trump’s remarks .
She added: “President Joe Biden believes in democracy, our institutions, and the importance of a peaceful transition of power, and he has tasked us with ensuring an effective and smooth transition of power to the next administration.”
Jean-Pierre continued: “Biden wanted a peaceful transfer of power, and here I want to remind everyone that he did not get himself four years ago.”
She noted that the majority of Americans chose Trump in the presidential elections and that Biden “confirms their respect for free will and the rights of citizens”.
The White House spokesman announced that Biden will meet his successor, Trump, before the inauguration ceremony and will attend the event.
Trump said the transition of power was complicating Biden, citing the administration’s recent decisions on the environment and oil production, and Trump promised to reverse those orders once he takes office.
