BOLZANO. Closed since the end of October 2023, the Theiner bar at the entrance to the Bolzano, the “hot” areas of the city under police scrutiny over the weekend – Bolzano”>Talvera promenades could reopen at the beginning of next year.
The good news is that yesterday morning the municipal council approved the resolution, presented by councilor Stefano Fattor, which starts the process to reassign the place owned by the Municipality after the old manager had left from morning to evening, despite the concession expiring in 2027. Over thirty people said they were interested in management.

In recent months, more requests have arrived from the opposition benches to the council, so that Bolzano residents and tourists could return to have a coffee or an ice cream, in that tiny but very popular place in all seasons. There were also many letters received by our newspaper from old customers asking when it would reopen.
In reality, the process of reassigning and then reopening the place proved to be more complicated than expected. First of all because there is an ongoing dispute with the previous manager.
Then because to reopen it, giving it under concession even for short periods, the legal classification had to be changed from available state property to unavailable state property.
«The resolution approved by the council – says Fattor – provides for starting the procedure for identifying a new manager. We will proceed with a public tender. The winner will be whoever makes the best offer compared to a rental fee calculated by the Valuation Office.”
Duration of the concession?
«Three years, no more. We also want to align the duration of this concession with that of the tobacconist and delicatessen which are located within the same complex, at Ponte Talvera, owned by the Municipality. They will all expire in 2027. And at that point the three rooms will close and the renovation work will begin. A major intervention is planned.”

How many are interested?
«The curious thing is that at the beginning there were four or five interested parties, no more. At the moment there are more than thirty. The intention is to speed up the process, arriving at the assignment before Christmas.”
The technical times to fix the place, closed for a year now, and it could reopen at the beginning of 2025.
As we wanted to demonstrate, although the duration of the concession is short, the interest in managing the small bar is great. And it is explained by the fact that it is located in a strategic point: the entrance to Via Museo and the entrance to the Talvera walks. Where, every day, a river of people passes by: locals from Bolzano but also many tourists. AM
