Shakib Al Hasan wants to retire after playing the Test against South Africa at home. Having made such a demand, he has added conditions. Going to and from the country; Shakib will come to Bangladesh to play the Test series if he can do both naturally or to be more precise, feel safe while in the country and if he is guaranteed to leave the country if necessary.

Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that Shakib should not have any obstacles in coming and going out of the country. Although there is a murder case against him, the Law Ministry is looking after the whole matter, he said.

After visiting Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Sunday, Asif Mahmud said about providing security to Shakib, “I don’t see any obstacle for him to play as a cricketer and a Bangladeshi citizen to come to Bangladesh.”

Recently, Shakib expressed his regret over the lack of attendance in the anti-discrimination student movement on his Facebook. During the July-August agitation, Shakib was busy playing cricket outside the country. After that, one of the best all-rounders in the world played consecutive series away from home. He said that he will play the last test of his career in front of fans and supporters back home.

After his announcement, a party involved in the student movement protested on the wall of Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. They definitely don’t want to see Shakib play on home soil. They protested by writing on the wall.

Adviser Asif Mahmud said, ‘I have seen on some social media that you are talking about writing on the wall, it is actually a matter of emotion. They have those rights. Democratic country. There is a constitutional right to any kind of movement.’

He also advised to be respectful of the law, ‘We will keep an eye on the safety of anyone so that we do not threaten it. If there is any legal matter, the law will follow the law and I cannot comment here. Safety should be respected. Here comes South Africa. We also have to keep the environment good. Otherwise, foreign countries will experience a security crisis in coming to the country.’

He also added, ‘BCB will look into the matter of giving the team (Bangladesh team with Shakib). It is the responsibility of the state to ensure the safety of every citizen from the state. It is also the responsibility of the state to ensure the security of the cricket team. We will make sure of that. A big movement has happened. Shakib Al Hasan had involvement with the previous Fascist government. He clarified that in a status.’

Asif also said, ‘even then some emotions remain. Logically, illogically I will not go there. That is another debate. But it appears that there is no legal problem so far. There should be no obstacles in coming or going out of the country. As far as I know. The Ministry of Law will look into the matter of law. I am not an expert in law.’
