The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that Rosa Aracely Calderón Montoya was sentenced to 20 years in prison for extorting a merchant from the department of Metapán.

“Calderón came to the victim’s business to demand $400.00 dollars in exchange for letting him work and not making an attempt on his life. The seller gave her the money, fearing threats, but the offending woman returned and demanded $1,000.00 more,” said the FGR.

According to the information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, despite the fear, the victim decided not to pay that amount and immediately filed a complaint.

“Calderón Montoya was convicted in absentia by the Second Penal Court of Santa Ana due to the amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure,” the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic stated in X.
