In order to avoid possible points of insecurity or sources of infection on public roads, 17 abandoned cars were removed from the streets of five municipalities in Mexico City, as part of the scrapping program.
Ten of the vehicles were removed in Iztacalco, three in Coyoacán, three more in Gustavo A. Madero and one in Benito Juárez, after the owners were notified 15 days in advance to avoid their transfer to warehouses.

In addition, during said device, 15 warnings were carried out, 11 in the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office, two in Iztacalco and two more in Coyoacán, reported the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).
“The objective of these works is to identify and remove from public roads abandoned or vehicles in poor condition, which become points of insecurity, sources of infection and spaces for harmful fauna,” the agency explained.
The SSC recalled that the scrapping program consists of three stages. The first focused on the identification and compilation of reports of units as abandoned. Subsequently, the identification numbers are reviewed for the theft report and finally, the delivery of notifications and warnings.
In the event that the vehicles continue without being removed three days after the notifications, they are moved to various depots where the corresponding violations are generated, the secretariat detailed.
