Kochi: Director Manish Kurup says that he has been working with the film industry for the last 12 years and can understand the difficulties of director Mahesh Vettiar who has been working for six years. Manish Kurup was reacting to the controversy surrounding the upcoming movie ‘Vellarikapatnam’ starring Manju Warrier and Saubin in the lead roles.
Director Mahesh Vettiar shared a post on Facebook yesterday stating that the rumors surrounding the movie ‘Vellarikapattanam’ starring Manju Warrier and Saubin Shahir are true. Director Manish Kurup was reacting to that.
When I approached a music company with songs from the movie they said they were ready to take our songs but the problem between the names was that they could not go to court and the problem would come to an end. When I heard that they had no problem releasing it under the name Vellarikapattanam, I asked them to give me an NOC certificate. But they were not ready for it, says Manish Kurup in his Facebook post.

I am Manish Kurup, Director, Cucumber Town. (Manju Warrier is not a Saubin film) He has been working in the film industry for 12 years, mainly in film editing, and was once the editor of all the hit films in Tamil. Lenin (Captain, Indian, Catalan) was in Chennai as Sir’s Assistant. He started making a film in 2017 and joined the South Indian Producers’ Council in Chennai and registered there under the name ‘Vellarikkapattanam’ due to its low cost. While waiting for the time of the beloved Minister’s Shailaja teacher, the beloved Manju Warrier and Saubika named the poster of the new film as ‘Vellarikkapattanam’.
4 months ago, I took the climax of the movie Vellarikapattanam and stopped shooting. The poster of the movie appeared again with the advertisement that I was looking for people to act in it while the post-production work was going on. Anyway this time Manju contacted Chechi and the director of the film called me and told me that his name could not be changed as it is an internationally known film. I was asked to give them a NOC certificate and I asked them if it was a movie that would be released months after our release anyway .. I was caught when they told me that they were not ready for that too, I could go to court when I was planning the release .. Anyway the conversation ended without a mutual understanding ..
When I approached a music company with songs from the movie they said they were ready to pick up our songs but the problem between the names was that they could not go to court .. When they did not know what to do they wrote an open letter to Manju Warrier and Saubin Shahir as their friends said and posted it on fb .. People Share The director of the Manju Warrier film, Shri Mahesh Vettiar, left a post in reply to me. In it he says that the highest center of Malayalam cinema is the Film Chamber in Kerala, that he was registered in 2019 and that he was the one who made me ignorant. At the time I was making a movie of my own. (After she came; at the age of 24, I went down on my own and distributed and pasted posters in 28 theaters.) I did not go for any other job other than cinema. Here it is .. It is a crime of your ignorance to go to the movies without realizing it ..
The movie and the title have nothing to do with size or youth. It took me another two years for the name that came to my mind in 2017 to come to Chettan’s head, and that too because the carol trailer of the movie I made hit the Tic Tac Toe pillar.
1; The date is written as 13th of this month in the chamber letter registered and posted on the title of Chettan movie ..? What’s that?
2; Prem Nazir Sir’s old Vellarikapattanam film director Thomas Burley has written two letters to Sir, one to the chamber and the other to the South Indian Council, Chennai.
3; Why is the date not written on those two letterheads ?? (Didn’t Thomas Burliser agree to write the old date when he bought it 4 days ago ..)
4: What about two letterheads per person? (One was done by pure white DTP and the other was scanned by his own letter.)
Photoshop with people who work sincerely while doing a job .. Didn’t anyone tell you that the names of the movies do not need to be allowed to be used if they are not renewed after more than 20 years? .. And the memories of when I went home after work and slept soundly and pasted my movie poster ..
