RA Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Vache Terteryan received the regional head of the “Good governance for local development in the South Caucasus” program of the German International Cooperation (GIC) Christoph Bayer and the head of the Armenian team of the project, Pierre Boniface.

Terteryan welcomed the guests and thanked them for the meeting, stressing the importance of active cooperation with the GMC, as well as the implementation of economic development programs, especially after the process of enlarging communities, when good opportunities and resources for economic development were formed for large communities.

“Within the framework of the cooperation with the UMEC, the communities presented an unprecedented number of more than 200 development program proposals, from which 21 programs were selected, and the rest of the programs will be implemented through other programs. It should be noted that the recently introduced Institute of Economic Development Officers has yielded positive results. 14 of those in charge were included in the working group created by the proposal of the MRC to implement the mentioned 21 community development programs, as well as to provide professional advice and assistance within the framework of other economic development initiatives in the communities,” said the Deputy Minister.

During the meeting, cooperation with the neighboring Republic of Georgia under the European Union’s “Cross-Border Cooperation” program was discussed, within the framework of which in May, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructures (RDE) and Finance of the Republic of Georgia and heads of 10 communities will visit Armenia to get acquainted with the economic development of the communities and, in particular, the implementation of the above-mentioned fund. experience and details in order to implement them in Georgia.

The guests thanked for the reception and providing complete information, noting that the programs implemented in different communities of Armenia have innovative approaches and will provide new opportunities for development in the near future.
