Finland will limit the export of ammunition components to avoid them ending up in Russia. The Finnish Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on its website, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.

The department has developed a bill that involves amending the law on firearms.

“The goal is to prevent the export of cartridge components, especially to Russia,” the message says.

The project is under review until November 28, 2024.

The sale, delivery, transfer or export of weapons and their accessories to Russia has been prohibited since 2014 by a decision of the Council of the European Union. In June 2023, the EU Council amended the regulation, which introduced new measures to prevent sanctions evasion.

In the amendment to the regulation, a condition for the ban on the export of ammunition is that the relevant components are subject to authorization in the Member State. As part of the project, a regulation has been prepared defining the export of cartridge components as subject to licensing. Criminal penalties will be provided for the unauthorized export of cartridge components.
