The participation of the Artistic Stage of Epirus “Synthesis” in the 39th Panhellenic Amateur Theater Festival, held in Karditsa, was accompanied by important distinctions.

The team’s recent production, the black comedy ‘Black Birthday’, returned with three awards, taking the Audience Award (94.04%), Original Performance Award and 2nd Visual Ensemble Award
“Black Birthday”, written by Kostas Stavrou, was presented in March 2023 in a pan-Hellenic premiere by “Synthesis” in Ioannina. Then the show toured with great success in Arta, Thesprotiko, Paramythia, Zitsa and municipal apartments of the Municipalities of Dodoni, Zitsa and Zirou. In March 2024, it was presented once again in Ioannina with all proceeds going to the “Smile of the Child”. Giannis Chouliaras and Dimitris Katsanos participated in the leading roles, who also directed the film.
19 groups from all over Greece participated in the 39th Panhellenic Amateur Theater Festival. Eight of them advanced to the final stage, which took place between March 14 and 23, with “Synthesis” and the Theater Workshop of Patras winning the most prizes (three each). The Karditsa Festival, which is traditionally held every March, is the oldest competitive institution in the field of amateur theater and enjoys great recognition among theater groups throughout the country. From this year, the awards given are ensemble awards, as the individual categories have been abolished in an effort by the organizers to reward the collective effort and not individuals, in order to emphasize the character of the theater as a field of artistic meeting and exchange of artistic ideas and not as a competitive process.
“Synthesis” thanks the audience of the city of Karditsa, the organizing and jury of the festival, and congratulates all the groups that participated in this celebration of amateur theater.
