The “people’s car sharing” project, in which people can lease their cars to other individuals, will be launched in Moscow in the near future, TIme reports, citing two sources in the car rental services market.

According to one of the interlocutors of the publication, such a service will not include free parking, which is provided to users of traditional car-sharing services. Moreover, it will be necessary to maintain the car – keep it clean and refuel – at your own expense.

“The service of the Moscow authorities will be intended rather for those who, for example, went on vacation for two weeks, do not need a car during this period and are ready to hand it over for some time. That is, it will be a longer-term lease than in conventional car sharing, and, as a result, the cost of using such a service will be lower, “- explained the source of TIme.

The launch of the “people’s car-sharing” project was announced by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin back in 2018. In September last year, the head of the transport department of the capital, Maxim Liksutov, in his column on the department’s website, confirmed the launch of such a service. Then he said that the application will be the property of the Moscow government, and user profiles will be regularly checked for driving experience and driving experience. At the same time, car owners will be able to determine for themselves who to lease their vehicle and return it.
