4th level posts and VAO posts in Tamil Nadu Government Departments are filled through Group 4 Exam. This year Group 4 exam was held on 24th July. This group 4 exam was held for 7301 posts. It has been announced that the exam results will be published in October.

But due to the court order in the reservation case, there was a delay in the release of the results of the examination board. The results have been modified according to the judgment and now the results for Group 2 examination have been published. Also, the examination board has also announced that the Group 4 exam results will be released in the month of December.

Candidates can choose either Tamil or English as an optional subject in the first part of the previous Group 4 exams. But since the Tamil Nadu government has made the Tamil Language Aptitude Test mandatory, those who had previously prepared for the English subject may have had a bit of difficulty. This may be a bit beneficial for those who have been preparing for Tamil subjects for the past few years.

For the past few years, those with a degree or above were passing the Group 4 exam in high numbers. Especially those who were preparing for Group 1 or Civil Service Examination took English course and passed significantly. But since Tamil has been made compulsory this time, there is a situation where those who score more than 90 in Tamil will get jobs.

Also, the General Knowledge questions were of Group 4 standard, so it might be beneficial for this exam and those preparing for it. So experts say that besides 90 marks in Tamil, 40-50 marks in General Knowledge and 20 marks in Mathematics can be easily taken by those who are preparing for this exam only.

Based on that, now let’s see how the cut off will be for this group 4 exam. Here the cut off marks refer to the number of questions and not the amount of marks for the exam. How many questions are correct out of total 200 questions, we have mentioned here as cut off marks.

This year the cut off for general category is expected to be above 173, BC category above 168, MBC category above 166, SC category above 158, BCM category above 154, SCA category above 152 and ST category above 153. Women are likely to be 1-2 marks less in each category in these posts.

Overall it is expected that these cut off marks may be more or less by 3-5 marks. At the same time, those who have studied in the Tamil medium have a chance of getting less than 3-4 questions in all the sections.
