A penalty in the last minute gave Tondela a 2-1 victory against Leixões today, in a match from the eighth round of Football League II in which Tondela’s team was losing to penalties.
Ricardo Valente opened the scoring in the 26th minute and, in the second half, specifically in the extra minutes, Tondela turned the result around, with Miro (90+7) equalizing and Roberto (90+14) converting the decisive punishment.
Tondela came out pressing and was ahead in the first 20 minutes of the game with three shots on goal, one of them dangerous, with Pedro Maranhão (11) shooting low and hard near the left post.
Leixões repositioned themselves on the field and leveled the challenge, and after a dangerous approach close to the Tondela goal, in the next minute, Ricardo Valente (26) opened the score with a ‘shot’ into the net.
The second half was marked by a drop in speed, taking into account the constant stops due to some dirt brought by the athletes on the ground.
In the last 10 minutes of regulation, Tondela stood out again due to the pressure placed on the Leixões midfield. Among the shots taken, Cícero (85) stood out, hitting the crossbar.
In the 15 minutes of stoppage time given by referee Anzhony Rodrigues, Tondela turned the result around: Miro tied the game, before Roberto completed the comeback, with the maximum penalty, in the last play of the game.
With the win, Tondela has 16 points and moves up to second place, level with third-placed Benfica B, who have one game in hand, while Leixões remain fourth in Serie II, with 12.
