The beginning of the year has been agonizing, and I have to say that the first half of the year was even worse than last year. From June, the market started to recover, and from then on, every month was good, surpassing last year and our own goals. It was also repeated that the middle category, which also “suffered” in the first half of the year – which includes our Törley and Hungaria brands – created a beautiful one from June onwards – he revealed for Világgazdaság Kornél Müller, Törley pezsgőpincészet Kft. executive director.
In our portfolio the highest quality is represented by traditional champagnes, such as François and Törley Chardonnay. Looking at this year’s expectations,November and December account for approximately half of the annual champagne consumption,so it is not yet possible to say what the year as a whole will be like. From Christmas to december 30, champagne traffic doubles every day, and even the 31st is usually very strong, so that’s when everything is really decided. All I can say is that, based on our data at the end of November, I am hoping for a strong mid-season, emphasized Kornél Müller.
What are the trends in champagne consumption?
Two significant trends can be observed that define our days.
In one, consumers increasingly experience the positive ordinariness of champagne, as people are already looking for light champagnes that are more connected to their everyday life. Another very strong trend is “no alcohol” or “low alcohol”.
This is very popular in the world and – albeit with a slight delay and a little toned down - is also present in our country, said Kornél Müller. This also means that proseccos, i.e. tank-fermented, easy-to-drink champagnes, are making headway in the world. There are alternatives to this in hungary as well, the very floral, light, very nice and easy-to-drink tank-fermented champagnes. in our assortment, for example, the Törley Classic series, and within it the Gála Sec. But Hungaria Extra Dry, which can be classified as premium, also fits into this trend and taste - emphasized the managing director.
