Muscat: British cyclist Mark Cavendish of the Belgian Quick Step team won first place in the second leg of the Oman Cycling Tour today. The cycling started in front of Al Naseem Park in Barka district this morning and covered 167.5 km and ended at Sohar Corniche.

Oman fans are excited about the ‘Tour of Oman’ long-distance cycling competition, which has revived the sport despite Kovid fears. The competition will be held in six stages till February 15. The total distance covered at various stages of the race is 891 km.

In addition to the seven international teams and nine pro teams, there is also a Continental team. The first leg of the competition started at 12.05 pm on Thursday at the Rustaq Fort and ended at the Oman Convention Center. The ‘Fernando’ of the UAE won the first round. All races are arranged along the main path. The Royal Oman Police has imposed parking restrictions in these areas.
