Already from the next “Ferrari in 2025″>Grand Prix” stage, which will take place in the USA next week, the “Toyota” inscription will be visible on the “Haas” formulas and the racing department of the auto giant will provide the unit with design, technical and production services.
“Haas” will continue to compete under its name and “Toyota” is not currently going to resume supplying engines to F-1, as it did at the beginning of the century. The US-based team still has a contract until 2028 for the supply of engines with “Ferrari”.
The cooperation agreement between Haas and Toyota is said to be for several seasons, but the head of Toyota’s racing department, Tomoya Takahashi, said on Friday that the Japanese automaker will try to “grow drivers, engineers and mechanics” in cooperation with Haas.
The team already has pilots for the next season – the young British pilot Oliver Burmans from the “Ferrari” academy and the experienced Frenchman Esteban Okonu, who is currently competing in the ranks of the “Alpine” team.
“Toyota” entered F-1 with its team in 2002, however, in seven years it did not win a single victory and in 2009 unexpectedly announced its abandonment of F-1, citing cost reduction as the main reason.
After leaving F-1, Toyota focused more on NASCAR, Le Mans 24 Hours and Rally.
