More than 100 employees of the Rostock company IMG could lose their jobs. The company with more than 60 years of history has filed for bankruptcy.
The traditional Rostock company Ingenieurtechnik und Maschinenbau GmbH (IMG) has filed for bankruptcy. The Rostock district court confirmed this upon request. Attorney Ulrich Rosenkranz was appointed as the provisional insolvency administrator. The NDR had previously reported on it. More than 100 employees are affected.
“The application was submitted very late,” said the responsible judge at the district court, Steffen Rohn. It initially remained unclear why the company got into trouble. But the monthly salaries have been in arrears since August. This makes the work of the provisional insolvency administrator difficult. A decision will now be made promptly regarding the opening of insolvency proceedings.
A dpa request from management remained unanswered on Friday. According to NDR, the employees will find out on Wednesday what will happen next and whether they will still be employed beyond November 1st. At a meeting last Friday, the reason given for the financial difficulties was that there were still outstanding claims from an Indian company.
The broadcaster reports, citing employee circles, that the salaries for July were only paid out “a few days ago”. In addition, the management advised employees in a circular to “dress warmly” after the supply of district heating had already been stopped due to outstanding invoices.
From 1959 onwards, IMG initially built rationalization equipment for the GDR shipbuilding combine. In 1990 the company was re-founded in reunified Germany under its current name.
