A young girl, whose name has not been released, endured unimaginable trauma after witnessing her mother commit suicide and being sexually assaulted by her father. The harrowing details of her ordeal have recently been revealed, shedding light on the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of those who were supposed to protect her.
According to reports from a Singaporean media outlet, the girl’s mother took her own life in 2017, when the girl was just 13 years old. Tragically, this was only the beginning of her nightmare. Shortly after her mother’s death, the girl’s father raped her for the first time. The abuse continued for years, leaving the young girl in a state of extreme distress and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Thankfully, the girl was rescued and provided with counseling and support from the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) in Singapore. The abuse lasted for about a month, during which he subjected her to horrific acts, including forcing her to stand naked in front of a mirror and raping her. Despite the trauma she endured, the girl bravely spoke out, and a case was registered against the abuser.
As the legal process unfolds, the perpetrator has been granted bail, but he is expected to face trial in January 2024. The authorities have assured that he will be held accountable for his actions.
The young girl, now 16 years old, has been under the protection of the government since being rescued from her abusive father and his friend. Her courage in coming forward with her story is commendable, and she serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of survivors of abuse.
