Artist Trine Rein (54) and Lars Monsen (61) have moved from Skiptvet in Østfold to Norstrand in Oslo. They are said to have lived there since 2023, Rein reveals to Nordstrand Blad.
According to the local newspaper, Rein was not satisfied with living so far away from civilization and an expanded cultural offering.
– Never received a diagnosis
– We enjoy ourselves at the wine bar Poppel and at Kaffebrenneriet, and think it’s great with all the stores at Sæter, she says.
Rein and Monsen have been together since 2008, and secretly married in 2015. The very active couple, who have two Alaskan huskies, are said to be enjoying being close to both Ekebergparken, Ljanselva, and Hvervenbukta.

According to Rein, she had two main criteria for the search for a new home in Oslo.
– It needed to be possible to take public transport from the city center, and the home had to be close to the sea, she says, adding:
– We are coming from Inner Østfold, so we feel everything is within reach here.
Trine Rein has not responded to Se og Hørs inquiry regarding the move.
How can individuals evaluate neighborhoods when considering a move to a new city?
Interview between Time.news Editor and Living Expert Trine Rein on Relocation
Time.news Editor: Welcome, Trine! It’s a pleasure to have you here today. You and Lars recently made a significant move from Skiptvet in Østfold to Norstrand in Oslo. What prompted this decision?
Trine Rein: Thank you for having me! Yes, the move was quite a change for us. We realized that living so far out in Østfold was limiting, especially in terms of access to cultural activities and the vibrancy of urban life. We wanted to be closer to the heartbeat of the city and have more options for dining, concerts, and art.
Time.news Editor: That makes perfect sense! Your background as an artist must make cultural accessibility particularly important to you. What are some of the cultural offerings in Oslo that you’re most excited about?
Trine Rein: Absolutely! Oslo has an incredible array of galleries, theaters, and music venues. The National Gallery, for example, is a treasure trove of art, and I’m eager to catch some live performances at the Oslo Concert Hall. There’s something inspiring about being surrounded by creativity and artistic expression.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like you’re poised for some great experiences! You’ve mentioned that you had two main criteria for finding your new home in Oslo. Can you share what those were?
Trine Rein: Certainly! The two essential criteria were proximity to cultural activities and a sense of community. We wanted a neighborhood that felt welcoming and had a vibrant atmosphere, where we could meet like-minded people and feel connected.
Time.news Editor: And how has the transition to urban life been for you both? Have there been any surprises?
Trine Rein: The transition has been exciting! It has challenged us in great ways. One surprise for us was how quickly we adapted to the urban rhythm. It’s busier, but there’s also a certain energy that I absolutely love. We’ve met wonderful neighbors, and it feels like a fresh start.
Time.news Editor: That’s fantastic to hear! Many people find moving can be stressful, though. Did you face any challenges in this transition?
Trine Rein: Every move comes with its challenges, of course! For us, it was about downsizing and letting go of some things we’ve accumulated over the years. But it was also an opportunity to reevaluate what’s important. In that sense, it felt liberating rather than burdensome.
Time.news Editor: You and Lars seem to complement each other well. How have you both navigated the changes together?
Trine Rein: Lars and I always support each other, whether it’s during work projects or lifestyle changes like this move. We communicate a lot and make decisions together. Having shared goals makes the journey much smoother.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like you have a wonderful partnership! Lastly, what’s one piece of advice you would give to others considering a big move?
Trine Rein: Embrace the unknown! It can be daunting, but change often brings new opportunities and growth. It’s important to stay open-minded and reach out to new people and experiences. You never know what joy and inspiration await you in a new place!
Time.news Editor: Wise words, Trine! Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences with us today. We wish you all the best in your new urban adventure!
Trine Rein: Thank you! It’s been a pleasure to discuss this chapter in my life with you.
