Jaffna: A member of a sand smuggling gang was shot dead by a Special Task Force (STF) in the Nedungulam area in Jaffna.
The incident took place this evening. Sand smuggling gang besieged by Special Task Force in Nedunkulam area.
The Special Task Force (STF) opened fire as it tried to escape from the siege with a tractor.
Yasinthan (27) from Ariyalai-Mulli area was admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital with serious injuries.
He is said to have been arrested.
