The Andi Chamber of Health Care Institutions has raised the alarm, warning that the implementation of a new health tariff regime would have detrimental consequences for both the sector and patients. According to the union, this measure would affect the capacity for innovation in the use of medical technologies and the quality of care services.

Andi has stressed that any establishment of a tariff regime must be the product of a legislative discussion in the Congress of the Republic. In addition, they point out that the Ministry of Health must have favorable technical support from the National Council of Human Talent in Health for the preparation of a tariff manual, a step that has not yet been carried out.

The industrial union has also expressed concern about the financial impact that this measure could have. They warn that the imposition of a tariff regime with the sole purpose of containing spending could result in a decrease in investment in medical technologies, which could have negative consequences in the short term.

“It is important to highlight that each patient is unique in terms of their clinical history, health status, age, severity of their condition, comorbidities, history and risk factors, among other clinical variables,” declared Andi. This underlines the need for an individualized approach in medical and surgical treatment, which could be compromised by the implementation of a generalized tariff regime.

Andi calls on the competent authorities to carefully consider the implications of any measure related to the health tariff regime, ensuring that both the financial sustainability of the sector and the quality of medical care for all Colombians are protected.
