The attacker is neutralized
One person was killed and about 40 injured when a truck plowed into people waiting at a bus stop at a major intersection near Tel Aviv this morning. The attacker was neutralized by an armed civilian, Reuters reported, citing the police.
She suspects that the attack, which took place near the headquarters of Israel’s Mossad intelligence, was a terrorist attack.
The attacker was identified by Israeli media as a citizen of the country of Arab origin.
The victims have injuries of varying severity, and some of them are in serious condition.
By “neutralized” the Israeli police usually mean killed.
At first it was reported about forty injured. One of them died later in hospital.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian was killed after attacking Israeli soldiers with a knife during an operation in the occupied West Bank, AFP reported, citing the Israeli army.
The incident took place in the town of Hizma, north of Jerusalem, BTA reported.
The situation in the West Bank, which has been tense for years, worsened even more after the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, triggered by the attack of the Palestinian Islamist movement “Hamas” in Israel on October 7 last year.
Since then, at least 745 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers or Jewish settlers in the occupied territory, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. According to Israeli authorities, 24 Israelis, including soldiers, were killed in Israeli military operations or Palestinian attacks during the same period, according to AFP.
