Trump appoints the head of his platform, Truth Social, to a sensitive position in the White House

US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday appointed Devin Nunes, CEO of Trump Media and Technology Group, the parent company of the Truth Social platform, as Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Council.

Trump said in a tweet on the platform, “Nunes will continue his management of the group in addition to his presidency of the council, which includes “distinguished citizens” from outside the federal government,” as he put it.

Trump explained that Devine will rely on his experience as former Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, and his key role in exposing the “Russia Hoax” to provide independent assessments of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the activities of the US intelligence community.

Nunes was chairman of the Intelligence Committee in the US House of Representatives, which announced in 2018 that it had not found evidence of collusion between President Donald Trump’s electoral team and Russia in the 2016 election campaign.

Nunes also defended Trump during the congressional impeachment attempt in 2019.

Speaking at the time as a spokesman for Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee, Nunes said that these measures are part of “a process that has been underway for three years by Democrats, corrupt media, and partisan bureaucrats who want to overturn the results of the 2016 election.”
