Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump less than two weeks before the election, he has jumped ahead in the presidential race, ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris by a narrow margin – 47% to 45%. This is evidenced by data from a new survey by The Wall Street Journal, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.
That’s a reversal from the August poll, when Harris led by the same margin. However, both results are within the margin of error.
The survey showed an increase in negative reviews of Harris, whose support dropped 8 points to 42%. Meanwhile, Trump’s performance as president improved, with his approval rating at 52%, giving him a 4-point lead over Harris.
During the election campaign, Trump increased his focus on immigration policy, which caught the attention of voters: 23% named immigration as a key issue. Trump leads Harris by 12 points on the economy and 15 points on immigration.
Despite this, some voters still consider Trump to be “too extreme” a candidate and a danger to the country. Issues of stability and temperament also play into Harris’s favor, especially in the context of her leadership on abortion issues, although by smaller margins.
The US presidential elections are scheduled for November 5th.
It was recently reported that Trump may declare victory in the election ahead of schedule.
