A US congressional investigation committee has recommended that former President Donald Trump be impeached for orchestrating the Capitol riots.
The recommendation is to bar Trump from office because the Capitol riots proved to be with Trump’s knowledge and support. The 845-page full report of the inquiry committee has been released. When he lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol, the headquarters of the US Congress, to prevent him from relinquishing power. According to the report, Trump has incited and supported violent and armed followers and has received testimony to prove this. The report was released at the end of 17 months of investigation and evidence gathering. There is a provision in the constitution to bar a person who has taken an oath to protect the constitution from holding office if it is found that he has led a rebellion. The report also states that Trump, who watched the riots on TV in the White House, did not try to stop it.
