“If I had been president, there would have been no (Hamas) attack.”
Former President Donald Trump, the U.S. Republican presidential candidate, claimed on the 7th (local time) that the U.S. presidential election “will be the most important day in Israel’s history.”
According to foreign media, candidate Trump called Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris an existential threat to Israel at an event held at the Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami, Florida, on the one-year anniversary of the Israeli-Palestinian Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. “If we don’t win this election, there will be huge consequences for everything,” he said.
Candidate Trump said, “We can never forget the nightmare of that day. “If I had been president, the attack (by Hamas) on October 7 (last year) would never have occurred,” he said, adding, “The past two years have proven that weakness only breeds violence and war.”
Addressing Jewish leaders, he described Hamas’ so-called ‘Al-Aqsa flood’ surprise attack as “one of the darkest hours in human history.”
Candidate Trump said, “A year ago today, all civilized people were filled with shock, fear and sadness, and no one had ever seen such evil. It was as if the gates of hell had opened and the horror was spreading throughout the world.”
Also, “Anti-Semitic hatred has returned to the United States. “I will not allow the Jewish state to be threatened with destruction, and I will not allow another Holocaust against the Jewish people,” he said, especially in the ranks of the Democratic Party.
He added, “We will not allow jihad to proceed against the United States or its allies, and we will support Israel’s right to win the war on terrorism,” adding, “Israel must win quickly.”
