“I will designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. “We are going to do it immediately,” said the next president during a rally in Phoenix, Arizona.
Trump also assured that he addressed the issue with the president Claudia Sheinbaum. “I was very hard on Mexico. I spoke with the new president, a charming and wonderful woman. I told him: ‘You can’t do this to our country,’” he declared.
Trump wants to declare the cartels terrorists 💣 and basically take control because in Mexico the government can’t even handle its coffee, much less the drug traffickers. 🙄

Under US law, the designation of an organization as a foreign terrorist has profound legal repercussions, economic and diplomatic.
For an entity to receive this designation, it must meet certain criteria established in the Immigration and Nationality Law (INA) and other documents such as Executive Order 13224—signed by George W. Bush in 2001—among which are: being a foreign organization, participating in terrorist activities and representing a threat to the security of the United States.
In 2019, Trump already tried to promote this designation, but the Mexican Government then led by Andrés Manuel López Obrador rejected the initiative, arguing that foreign intervention in its fight against cartels was neither necessary nor desirable.
The aggressive stance of Trump is not limited to Mexico. Just a few days ago, he threatened the European Union with imposing tariffs if they do not increase their purchases of American gas and oil. Although these statements point to a strategy of global economic pressure.
Likewise, the Republican reiterated that once he returns to the White House In January he will sign an executive order to close the country’s borders to undocumented migrants and will begin the largest deportation plan for foreigners in US history.
