Turnout in parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan made 34%

About 1.3 million voters voted in the parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan. The turnout was 34.38% after counting more than 97% of the votes. Five parties are elected to parliament, including three pro-government ones, it follows from the data of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan.

Election leaders in Kyrgyzstan:

  • Ata-Jurt Kyrgyzstan – 16.41%;
  • “Trust” – 13.2%;
  • Yntymak – 10.64%;
  • Alliance – 8.05%;
  • “Whole Kyrgyzstan” – 6.57%.

During the counting of votes on the website of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan, there was a failure, after which the number of parties entering parliament decreased from 10 to 6. Because of this, a group of opposition parties demanded the cancellation of the election results.

President Sadyr Japarov said that if the facts of falsification by the CEC are revealed, then all its members will be brought to justice. “They will answer with their heads. <...> If there was an interference, then the CEC members must clearly indicate who did it, ”the head of state wrote on Facebook. He noted that no one bothers to recount the ballots manually.

For the first time, elections in Kyrgyzstan were held according to a mixed, party-majority system. President Sadyr Japarov banned his political force Mekenchil from participating in the race. A year ago, an attempt to elect deputies led to accusations of fraud, protests, the resignation of President Sooronbai Jeenbekov and the restructuring of the state system.
