BOLZANO. There are also works performed during the Bolzano Danza Festival among those awarded for 2024 by the magazine Dance&Dance which every year awards awards to shows, choreographers and artists who have made a difference on Italian stages. The jury composed of Maria Luisa Buzzi, Elisabetta Ceron, Azzurra Di Meco, Giuseppe Distefano, Roberto Giambrone, Francesca Pedroni and Sergio Trombetta has selected among others the contemporary show “Age of Content” choreographed by (The)Horde and staged by National Ballet of Marseille for the first time in Italy in Bolzano last July.

A “Grosse Fugue” choreographed by Maguy Marin and brought to the stage by MM Contemporary Dance Company the prize went for the best work of valorisation of the repertoire: the Italian premiere took place in Bolzano, again on the occasion of the Dance Festival.

Also the Lifetime Achievement Award awarded to Virgil Cienne has a connection with the South Tyrolean capital: the choreographer born in Florence, born in ’58, has been a guest of the city festival several times, where the 2019 performance of “Metamorphosis” is still remembered, a debut accompanied live by the Haydn orchestra of Bolzano and Trento. In a note from Haydn Foundation it is underlined that the award is also a recognition of the multi-year artistic commitment of the director of Bolzano Danza, Emanuele Masiwho led the Festival for over a decade.
