Last Thursday, a shocking accident happened in the city of Jandaya do Sol in the state of Parana in southern Brazil. Two children were killed after their school bus was hit by a train.
There were 25 students and three teachers in the bus that left the school in the city. As a result of the powerful collision, four of the passengers were thrown out of the bus and thrown onto the road. In the video that recorded the fatal accident and was distributed on social networks, one of the passengers who was thrown onto the road can be seen standing up and immediately falling to the ground. Traffic accident investigators who were called to the scene checked whether the bus or the train was traveling at excessive speed.
As mentioned, the security camera recorded the dramatic moment when the train violently collides with the school bus. Two female students aged 11 and 15 were killed on the spot. In addition, five more students and a teacher were injured and were taken to the hospital in serious condition for medical treatment.
The father of a 15-year-old girl who was on the bus witnessed the accident, “I ran over there and then I saw that it was my daughter’s bus,” he said. In the security camera footage, a car was seen on the opposite side of the tracks standing at the intersection waiting for an approaching train. The bus then reaches the intersection and passes over the tracks when the train collides with it violently. The train collided with the middle part of the bus and as mentioned four students were thrown out of it.
“In addition to the two female students who were killed, we have 6 more injured, including a teacher, who were evacuated in a serious condition to the hospital in the area,” said the chief of the fire department, Valsi de Souza, to the local TV channel RPC.
The bus driver was interrogated on the spot by the local police and said that he did not notice the train approaching the intersection and did not hear anything. “I didn’t see the train coming and I didn’t hear anything,” the driver told police chief Carlos Pravidino.

“The Parana school community mourns this serious accident in Jandaea do Sol,” Fiana said in a statement. “May God comfort the girls’ families and may the others recover quickly from this accident. The Parana government will do everything in its power to help these people.”
