Montreal (Canada): It is reported that the most powerful passport in the world belongs to the UAE. A UAE passport holder can enter 180 countries without complications. A UAE passport allows visa-free access to 121 countries. Visa on arrival is also available in 59 countries. This means that UAE passport holders only need to apply for a visa to enter 19 countries. UAE passport holders have easy access to 91% of the world’s countries. The Passport Index was released by Arton Capital, a Montreal-based citizenship financial advisory firm.
Meanwhile, India ranks 69 in the list of powerful passports. 24 countries can be entered visa-free with an Indian passport. Visa on arrival is available in 48 countries. Entry to 126 countries is permitted only after visa application and approval. Along with India, Gambia, Tanzania, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Sao Tome and Principe are also in the 69th rank.
The third-ranked US passport allows visa-free entry to 116 countries. Visa on arrival is available in 56 countries. There are also 26 countries that grant visas only upon application by US citizens. According to the report, a US passport can easily enter 83% of the world’s places.
Arton Capital has released the list based on the 139 countries that are members of the United Nations (UN) and the six territories that are being considered for membership. Arton’s list has been compiled based on official data released by governments, real-time data available through crowdsourcing, and available from reliable sources. Countries are included in the list after three levels of testing.
Most of the EU countries are in the top ten after the UAE. Germany, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and South Korea are also in the second rank. The UK is ranked fourth. Israel – 17, Ukraine – 20, Vatican – 21, Russia – 38, China – 59, Nepal – 86, North Korea – 91, Bangladesh – 92. Last in the list is Afghanistan (97). Pakistan’s rank is 94.
Japan’s 24th-ranked passport provides easy access to 171 countries. Meanwhile, the list released by Henle and Partners has found Japan’s passport to be the best in the world.
