Uijeongbu City’s Howon 1-dong Community Center (head Yeon-hee Ko) announced that on December 29, the volunteer group Andante (CEO Baek Du-hyeon) delivered 1,600 briquettes and 4 boxes (40 pieces) of ramen to 4 vulnerable households.

The recipients of briquette delivery are those in need, such as senior citizens living alone and recipients of basic livelihood security, and were selected in advance in cooperation with Howon 1-dong. Volunteers visited each home, delivered briquettes and offered warm words of support.

Andante is a non-profit volunteer organization established in 2015. Currently, 100 members are continuing activities such as delivering briquettes to the underprivileged, volunteering for home repairs, delivering rice, and distributing food to welfare centers.

CEO Baek Doo-hyun said, “We personally delivered briquettes to provide some help to the underprivileged living in low-income housing who desperately need briquettes,” and added, “We will continue to strive to spread warm sharing to those in need.”

Mayor Ko Yeon-hee said, “We sincerely thank you for providing strength to our neighbors in need who are having a hard time during the winter due to the ongoing cold wave,” and added, “The community center will also do its best to promote the welfare of the vulnerable and improve the quality of life.”

Meanwhile, the total amount raised by Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) for the 2024 hometown love donation was calculated to be 155 million won.

This amount is more than double the amount raised last year, which was the first year of implementation, which was 74 million won. As a result, the total accumulated amount of hometown love donations in Uijeongbu City reached 229 million won.

Last year, the city has been carrying out various activities to revitalize the hometown love donation system, such as promoting business agreements and mutual donations between nearby local governments and institutions, and significantly expanding return gifts through consulting with excellent suppliers in the city.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We are deeply grateful for the precious donations that have been made toward Uijeongbu.” He also added, “We are actively working to revitalize the hometown love donation system by discovering attractive return gifts unique to Uijeongbu City so that both donors and excellent companies in the district can coexist in the new year.” “We will continue to make efforts,” he said.

The Hometown Love Donation System is a system that allows you to donate to the local government of your choice, such as your hometown, excluding the address on your resident registration, and provides income tax deductions and return gift benefits. Donations can be easily made through the Hometown Love e-eum website and at Nonghyup offices nationwide.
