During the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, the parties discussed the introduction of a “painful” package of sanctions against Russia and de-escalation. About it stated Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishina on Twitter.

Moscow “threatens a new war”, but does not make efforts for a peaceful settlement within the framework of the Minsk and Normandy formats, Stefanishina said. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the common task is to reduce tensions on the border between Russia and Ukraine. Moreover, Stefanishina pointed out, in the event of “further aggression” by Moscow, its price should become “extremely high.”

“The NATO-Ukraine Commission stressed that there should be a comprehensive package of containment measures, including painful sanctions, on the table,” she concluded.
