The US military on Thursday hit missiles and drones belonging to the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, this was reported by the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

“The US Central Command, in the period from 15:35 to 16:55 Sanaa time (16:35 to 17:55 GMT), for the purpose of self-defense, attacked four anti-ship cruise missiles and one unmanned aerial vehicle in Yemen controlled by the Houthis “, states a CENTCOM report published in X. In addition, US troops shot down three Houthi drones launched towards the Gulf of Aden.

Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, Ansar Allah warned that it would carry out attacks on Israeli territory and would not allow associated ships to pass through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait until the operation in the Palestinian enclave ceases. Since mid-November last year, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

In response to the actions of Ansar Allah, the American authorities announced the formation of an international coalition and the preparation of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect ships in the Red Sea.
