233 general and by-election elections were held on Saturday (March 9). Polling will continue uninterrupted on this day from 8 am to 4 pm. Now counting. However, polling will continue in those centers till the end of voting for those who are staying at the polling stations after the scheduled time.
Today, 233 elections and by-elections were held at various levels of local government (including municipal councils and union councils) across the country, including two city corporations. Among them City Corporation one, City Corporation vacancies four, Municipal General Elections three, Municipality by-elections 15, Union Parishad general elections 13, Union Parishad by-elections (Chairman, General Members, reserved women seats) 190, Zilla Parishad vacancies Seven by-elections were held. After the election of the 12th national parliament, the first local government vote was held on a large scale today.
Earlier, Director of Public Relations Department of Election Commission Shariful Alam said that voting in Municipalities, Zilla Parishads and City Corporations is being done through Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). The rest of the elections are held through ballot papers.
