The media brand “Vice” is discontinued in Germany. The editor-in-chief for the German-language offerings, Tim Geyer, published on the X platform on Wednesday a post, which states, among other things: “Vice Germany is closing at the end of March after 18 years. After that there will be no more German-language content. A pity. No other German medium has shown so consistently how good journalism can benefit young people. We would have liked to continue for you. Sorry guys.”

According to its own information, the German Journalists’ Union (Dju) in Verdi supported the employees and the works council throughout the closure process. Dju regional manager for Berlin and Brandenburg, Jörg Reichel, said: “We regret the business decision to discontinue ‘Vice’ in Germany. Journalism is losing an important voice and an important format.”
