The Minister of e-Government, Valentin Mundrov, personally checked the installation of the software of the voting machines, which is carried out in the warehouse of the supplier company.
Earlier in the day, Mundrov sent a letter to the Central Election Commission calling for greater publicity of the installation process.
“Every step of the preparation, setup and logistics of the voting machines must be under strict control, while at the same time it should be done with maximum transparency in the eyes of the whole society. What depends on the government to provide a fair and democratic machine vote is secured. Nevertheless, I want to make sure of the security of the software integration of the technical devices, as well as the strict implementation of the installation schedules,” said Minister Mundrov.
According to him, 550 machines have been checked by experts from the state administration, although the checks started shortly before 3pm. today due to a delay in installation by the contractor. The Minister of e-Government expressed concern that a delay in the implementation schedule is possible, which will hinder the control by the representatives of the state administration. “I want to be sure that the deadlines will be met and the vote of the Bulgarian citizens who chose to vote with a machine will be guaranteed”, emphasized Valentin Mundrov.
“24 Chasa” has correspondence exchanged between CEC, MEU and “Siela-Norma”, in which the contractor company warns that the process of installing the software may stop for unspecified reasons from the contractor. In the same letter, it is clear that for the more risky electoral regions, this installation is planned to happen at night, when there is no presence of state experts.
