Today (Tuesday) morning, the budget meeting of the Vali West-Sulipuram Pradeshiya Sabha was held at the main hall of the council under the chairmanship of Dharmalingam Nadanendran.
The budget proposals were tabled by the Speaker and discussions on the budget took place.
The budget was then passed by a 18-vote majority when it was put to a vote.
In the 25-member Valikamam West Pradeshiya Sabha, 19 members voted in favor, including 9 members of the Tamil National Alliance, 5 members of the Tamil National People’s Front, 3 members of the United National Party and 2 members of the Independent Committee.
It is noteworthy that while one member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party voted against the budget, four members of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party and one member of the Tamil National People’s Front did not attend the session.
