Alexander Vezenkov continues to impress the basketball world with his performances, and in the last week he received recognition from both the EuroLeague and the NBA.
The national, who last season brought the “Sacramento” team in the NBA, was announced by the general managers in the league as the best foreigner who plays outside of it. This happened after the traditional survey of the managers of the 30 teams before the start of each season.
Zalgiris head coach Andrea Trinchieri also spoke highly of Vezenkov, calling him the European version of Klay Thompson.
“This is Vezenkov, he is a genius. He is the European version of Klay Thompson (Dallas Mavericks star of the NBA). He can score 30 points without a single dribble, that’s rare. He is one of a kind, and keeping him is a headache for the coach, for the players, for everyone,” said the coach.
Vezenkov lived up to the high expectations by making a key contribution to the first victory of his “Olympiacos” in the Euroleague against “Zalgiris” at home with 74:68. The wing had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, finishing with a game-high 30.
