Criticism can be a strength. This was the case in the singer’s career Lara Fabian. Guest on the set of the show What an era! on France 2, this Sunday March 24, she returned to the beginnings of his career, which were far from simple. The young woman, passionate about music and convinced that she could make it her career, will be the target of horrible remarks. Léa Salamé, presenter of the show, reveals some criticisms: “At the beginning: ‘You sing too well’, ‘You’ll never succeed’, ‘We don’t need a Mireille Mathieu‘, ‘She’s fat anyway’, ‘When you’re ugly, you don’t do this job’…” And Lara Fabian confirms having received this kind of criticism to the face.
But the 54-year-old singer confides that she has turned these criticisms into strength: “All these obstacles, all these impossibilities announced by others were my greatest teachers, my greatest lessons, ultimately. It was extraordinary to see how resilient, resistant I was.” At the start of her career, Lara Fabian must have been more courageous than talented. “It took a lot more courage than talent to get through. And ultimately, that was the greatest poorly wrapped gift of my life, putting myself to the test,” she concludes. And today she wants to thank everyone who didn’t help her and didn’t love her.
The light after a difficult start to his career
It’s hard to believe that the singer had to go through all these ordeals to get here today. And yet, she has had an exciting and impressive career since 1997, the year the French public discovered her with the title “I love you”. Her career took off and she had a string of successes and concerts. Today, Lara Fabian still pursues her profession with passion and makes her loyal audience proud. Moreover, in February 2024, she announced the release of her next album, produced as a duet with the singer Slimane, shortly after the release of their single “Your pain”.
