The push came at a Canadian meeting attended by TNA MPs Chanakyan and MA Sumanthiran.
MA Sumanthiran, Member of Parliament for the Tamil National Alliance and Presidential Counsel, was on his visit to Canada.
MP Chanakyan was also expected to accompany MA Sumanthiran to Canada, where he was scheduled to meet with representatives of Tamil organizations in Canada and hold various discussions.

Canadian Tamils protested, chanting ‘Sumanthiran is a Tamil traitor’ as they chanted slogans against Sumanthiran.
Due to this, the police were called to the area and Sumanthiran left in the middle of the meeting.
