President Yoon Seok-yeol said on the 22nd, “There are many difficult situations, but I will think of them as karma and work without hesitation for the country and the people.”

On this day, President Yoon visited Beomeosa Temple in Busan and met with Venerable Jeong Yeo, the head monk, and said, “Even if I throw a stone, I will still get hit,” Presidential Office Spokesperson Jeong Hye-jeon reported in a written briefing.

Monk Jeong Yeo replied to President Yoon, “It’s reassuring to see him persevere and not get caught up.”

President Yoon’s remarks appear to have referred to the political situation, including the recent decline in approval ratings and the opposition party’s impeachment offensive. In particular, in a meeting with Han Dong-hoon, representative of the People Power Party the day before, it is interpreted that he expressed his inner feelings about the so-called ‘Yunhan conflict theory’ becoming more widespread.

Prior to President Yoon’s remarks, Buddhist monk Jeong Yeo said, “As you go through life, there are things that remain in your heart and there are times when you shake yourself. Rather than being shaken from the outside, you should not shake yourself.”

He also said, “If we keep the wounds in our hearts too much, they become sick,” and “the mindset of emptying them in moderation and filling them with new ones will be helpful in running the government.” President Yoon responded, “It came too late.”

President Yoon visited Beomeosa Temple after attending the ‘2024 Busan World Volunteer Conference’ held in Busan this afternoon. Arriving at Beomeosa Temple, President Yoon exchanged greetings with temple officials and believers, including Monk Jeong Yeo and Monk Noon.

Beomeosa Temple decorated both sides of the main hall with chrysanthemums to welcome President Yoon. President Yoon greeted Monk Noon, saying, “I worked in Busan about 20 years ago, and even after I left, I hiked Geumjeong Mountain and visited this place several times,” and added, “It’s nice to see Buddha on a rainy day.”

Monk Noon said to President Yoon, “You have given hope to many people by saying that you are loyal to the people, not people, and by overcoming hardships but steadfastly to become president.” He added, “It is difficult to run the government due to the excessive use of national finances in the Corona era.” “You must be going through something, but there are a lot of sad things about it,” he said.

Monk Noon presented President Yoon with a scroll he had personally written with the phrase, “There is no fault in life, so there is nothing to worry about.”
