Due to heavy snowfall in the metropolitan area, including Seoul, visits to the palace Jongmyo Shrine and Joseon Royal Tombs will be suspended until the 28th.
On the 27th, the Palace Ruins Headquarters of the National Heritage Administration announced on its website that viewings of Changgyeonggung Palace, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty would be suspended due to concerns about safety accidents due to heavy snow.
The Deoksugung Palace Management Office announced, “For the safety of visitors, including maintenance of the viewing paths and trees due to heavy snowfall, viewing of Deoksugung Palace will be suspended until the 28th,” adding, “This includes Jungmyeongjeon Hall, King Gojong’s Path, and the internal pedestrian path.”
For the program ‘Seokjojeon Concert’ scheduled to be held on the 27th, only those with reservations can enter and no on-site reservations are accepted.
Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changgyeonggung Palace have also suspended viewings until the 28th. Access to Geunjeongjeon Hall at Gyeongbokgung Palace is restricted.
Changdeokgung Palace blocked access to Hamyangmun Gate, which is connected to Changdeokgung Palace, due to concerns about safety accidents due to the slope caused by heavy snow.
Tours to the back garden of Changdeokgung Palace were also canceled. The Changdeokgung Palace Management Office explained, “Sponsorship reservations will be automatically canceled and a full refund will be given. However, if you present the Changdeokgung Palace sponsorship cancellation information to the ticket office, you can purchase a ticket for the desired date until December 11th.”
The Joseon Royal Tombs Central District Management Office said, “Due to heavy snow, the viewing is suspended for the safety of visitors.” The viewing path is closed for the safety of visitors, including maintenance of the viewing path and tree maintenance due to heavy snow.
The Jongmyo Shrine viewing trail is also closed.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast that rain or snow will fall in most parts of the country by the morning of the 28th, with heavy and heavy snow falling at a rate of 1 to 3 cm per hour, especially in the central region and eastern Jeollabuk-do. In some areas, up to 5 cm is expected.
