Vivo’s upgraded foldable comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and a huge screen

by time news

Although Samsung dominates the field of foldables, it seems that Vivo is not going to sit idly by when it introduced its second foldable phone this year.

Vivo X Fold + is the name of the new folding device and the addition of Plus indicates that it is not a completely new device, but rather an upgrade to the previous model that was announced last April. As such, it remains in a configuration very similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold with an unchanged 8.03-inch internal screen at 2K resolution, and a smaller 6.53-inch external screen that is used when closed. Both screens benefit from a 120 Hz refresh rate, an AMOLED panel, and both have a fingerprint scanner embedded under the display.

The main upgrade is in the chipset and now Vivo X Fold + is equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from Qualcomm. The remaining memory is 12 gigabytes of working memory and 256 or 512 gigabytes for file storage. The camera set-up also remains the same and includes four cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens with a 12-megapixel sensor, and a periscope lens that magnifies up to five times with an 8-megapixel sensor. In addition, both the internal screen and the external screen come with a selfie camera in the hole, with a resolution of 16 megapixels.

The battery has been upgraded to 4,730 mAh with charging now at a rate of 80 watts wired or 50 watts wireless charging. Thus, in combination with the new processor and increased battery, Vivo X Fold Plus should provide slightly more usage time compared to its predecessor.

Its basic price remains the same and is 1400 dollars, which is about NIS 4,900. It will be marketed in China starting this weekend and it is not yet known if the company has plans to launch it in the West.
