The Maccabi “Targets” Tel Aviv volleyball team tonight defeated PAUK Thessaloniki 1:3 in the first match of the round of 16 of the Challenge Cup, after an exciting and close match and gained an advantage for the return match on 12/15 in Thessaloniki.
In the first set the Greeks won 22:25 but the yellows, with the help of the huge yellow crowd that rocked Hadar Yosef, equalized in the second set which was close when they won 25:27. In the third set, the Yellows continued their tremendous ability on the field and in the stands and Maccabi won 17:25.
The fourth set was particularly tense and ended with a 30:32 victory that signaled the yellow celebrations.
God didn’t help David Junior Costa either, a PAUK Thessaloniki player who said: “This is the first God there was and I believe in him.”
