SPD politician Michael Roth makes sharp accusations against Sahra Wagenknecht and her BSW alliance. According to him, the BSW together with the AfD poses a threat to German interests.
The chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Bundestag, Michael Roth, made harsh accusations against the Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) and its chairwoman Sahra Wagenknecht in an interview with the broadcaster n-tv. The SPD politician accuses the BSW and the AfD of “betrayal” of German interests.
“The BSW should have no responsibility at all in this country because they are extremely dangerous populists,” Roth told n-tv.de. Both parties clearly opposed the protection provided by the USA’s nuclear and conventional umbrella and against Germany’s rearmament. “BSW and AfD would hand us over to Russia and China without protection,” Roth continued, “that is treason.”
According to Roth, Wagenknecht is primarily concerned with her “own claim to power in the federal government”, especially with regard to coalition negotiations in Thuringia, Saxony and Brandenburg. “I know Sahra Wagenknecht and simply cannot imagine political cooperation,” said Roth.
Looking at the situation of his party colleague Dietmar Woidke, Prime Minister of Brandenburg, Roth added that he was in a “terrible dilemma”. The BSW representatives in the state governments now have to decide “whether they want to take responsibility – or whether they are just pupils and servile servants of Ms. Wagenknecht.”
