Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment said, I have a dream, as part of the social security program, I want to introduce a pension scheme for hardworking garment workers who contribute the most to the country’s exports. They should be able to spend their lives in peace at the end of their working life. This is a long-term process. However, we can do it with the cooperation of all stakeholders.

He said this while inaugurating TCB’s product sale program at a fair price for garment workers at Jaber & Zubair Fabrics factory premises in Tongi, Gazipur on Wednesday (October 16).

The adviser said that the workers also gave blood in the July uprising. The first beneficiaries of the blood-paid freedom should be the hardworking people of this country. As a result of the work of the country’s hardworking workers, Bangladesh has survived despite so much loot.

Many challenges have to be faced immediately after taking over, the adviser said, adding that the government has successfully supported the flood victims in the recent flood situation in the country. Currently their rehabilitation work is going on. Bringing to us the accumulated demands of 16 years long fascist rule. The government is working to fulfill the fair demands of all.

The conspiracy of some outsiders created dissatisfaction in the labor sector, he said, complaining that, in view of this, we have taken the initiative to resolve the dissatisfaction of the workers by announcing an 18-point joint statement on the workers’ side and the owners’ side. In view of that demand, we have started supplying TCB products at low prices. Product sales program of TCB will be increased gradually.

Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment AH was present at the ceremony. M. Safikuzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mohang Salim Uddin, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) Chairman Brigadier General Md. Mustafa Iqbal, BGMEA President Khandaker Rafiqul Islam and others.
